My
name is Ray Grier, I have had the nickname of "Tiny" for most
of my life. I guess it was given to me because I'm such a little person
"LOL". I
have been drawing, I think, since I was born. That has been quite awhile
ago. I didn't have any formal training in art, except in the Highschool
art class. I guess you would say I am "self taught". The first
I can remember drawing is about when I was 10 or 11 years old. I would copy
the pictures from the coloring books, rearranging them to the way I like
them and then coloring them. I didn't just color the way you would think,
I would shade and highlight the picture to make it more real. I have worked with all types of media, oil, watercolor, charcoal, pen & ink, etc. My favorite one was airbrush. I created some amazing pieces of art with 100 pounds of air pressure and a little paint. I have some examples of them on the following pages. I am no longer able to do airbrushing because of Asthma. The lung doctor said that is a no-no. After that happened I turned to pencil and pen& ink. I did some watercolor paintings, but I was not happy with the results I got. They were good, but not up to the excellence that I was use to with airbrush. With pencil and pen & ink I could get a more realistic piece of art. My brother says I am a realist not an impressionist, I guess he is right. About 6 years ago I had a CVA(stroke, brain attack or whatever you want to call it) and that hindered my art abilities for a short time. I turned to the computer for my new media. I tried to do some drawing with a pencil, but it is not the same. I can do more with this computer and its in color too. The graphics programs I use are Paint Shop Pro 8, and Kai's Power Tools for special effects, for HTML codeing I use Notepad and Microsoft Word, then I set all the graphics with Dreamweaver by Macromedia I have some examples of those also. With the computer I am still able to keep in touch with the rest of the world and to express myself artistically also. Now, I'm building web sites. I've been building them for about 6 or 7 years. I have several for myself, an Amateur Radio site, The Triple Nickel Gang, that is dedicated to my special friends in ham radio, a site for my art Believe 2 Achieve, my main site. I am also the webmaster of The Montgomery Amateur Radio Club site, located in Montgomery, Alabama. Please visit and let me know what you think :o) If you know of someone that has had a stroke or is physically challenged in any way get them to a computer! It is the best therapy in the world. If you need help with graphics or page design or computers in general, just drop me a note. I will be glad to help. I hope you enjoy these pages as much as I have enjoyed building them. Read
